Cathedral renovation closure

Corpus Christi Cathedral has closed renovations. The temporary closure of the Cathedral began May 26, 2025 and is anticipated to last about six months.

TRANSFERRED TO SACRED HEARTBeginning May 31 with the Saturday Vigil Mass, Sunday Masses and intentions will be transferred to Sacred Heart Parish at 1322 Comanche St.

PRO-CATHEDRALDuring the closure, Most Precious Blood Parish (3502 Saratoga Blvd., Corpus Christi) will be designated as the pro-Cathedral for the Diocese of Corpus Christi. This temporary designation means this location will serve as the host church for certain Diocesan events such as an Ordination Mass or Diocesan celebration Masses. Once the renovations at Corpus Christi Cathedral are complete and the Cathedral has been dedicated, this designation will expire.

The Corpus Christi Cathedral is set to undergo a transformative restoration and renovation beginning in Fall 2025. This significant project aligns with the Jubilee Year 2025, answering the Holy Father's call to renew hope and trust within the Church.
A special web site has been created by the Diocese of Corpus Christi for the renovation project at https://cathedralrenovationcc.com/restoration-renovation. On this page, you can find more information about the overall project, as well as detailed descriptions and renderings of the liturgical art and design elements, including creation and installation of a new Cathedra, ambo, baptismal font and altar to enhancements in lighting, sound, and flooring, and restoration of the tabernacle to the center of the apse.

The Cathedral Bookstore will close on Sundays during the period of the renovation. The bookstore will remain open on weekdays from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm.
