Fr. Pete Elizardo serves as Rector of Corpus Christi Cathedral and as the Director of the Office of Divine Worship for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
Ordained on June 23, 2001, Fr. Pete began his priestly ministry as the Director of Youth Ministry for the Diocese and as Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral. In 2002, he became the Director of the Office of Divine Worship and Master of Ceremonies for the Bishop.
Fr. Pete graduated from the Pontifical College Josephenium in Ohio with a degree in Latin American History and Psychology. He then received a Master's Degree in Systematic Theology from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.
From 2010-2013, Fr. Pete served as Rector of the Cathedral, until he was assigned to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Texas in July 2013. After six years in Alice, Fr. Pete returned as Rector to Corpus Christi Cathedral on July 1, 2019.
The third oldest of five, Fr. Pete has two older sisters and two younger brothers. He is very close to his parents who reside in his home town of Odem, Texas.
His personal motto comes from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans: "If God is for us, who can be against us" (Romans 8:31).
