All are invited to attend a Holy Hour with Exposition, Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Sunday, April 27 at 3:00 pm.
The Octave Sunday— or Second Sunday— of Easter is also known as Divine Mercy Sunday. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a devotion to Jesus Christ based on revelations from the Lord Jesus Christ to Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905–1938), which she recorded in her diary. St. Faustina recorded that Jesus asked her to pray the chaplet and to instruct others to do so.
The prayers of the chaplet for mercy are said in order to obtain mercy, to trust in Christ's mercy, and to show mercy to others. Kowalska was canonized April 30, 2000, and Pope John Paul II ordained the Sunday within the Octave of Easter as the Sunday of Divine Mercy. "Jesus said to St. Faustina one day: 'Humanity will never find peace until it turns with trust to Divine Mercy'. Divine Mercy! This is the Easter gift that the Church receives from the risen Christ and offers to humanity." —Pope John Paul II, April 22, 2001
