Max* is 78 and a client of two senior programs at Catholic Charities: Connections & Awareness for Elders (CAFE) and the RepPayee program. CAFE has volunteers who provide a connection to isolated older adults. Max is a widower. The stress has left him unable to manage his bills and checks. The RepPayee program assists seniors in paying bills and managing their Social Security benefits. Max started the service two years ago. He feels less stressed than ever now that he has someone to help him with his bills. In 2015, 11 percent of the client services provided by Catholic Charities agencies addressed issues of improving family economic security. *Name changed to protect privacy.
